The FP&A Analyst Role – Make an Impact with a Fast-Growing Company
THE ROLE:
The Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst assists in analytical support for forward-looking financial and business-related projects. They will be responsible for assisting in preparation, coordination, and documentation of financial analysis projects. Such projects include partnering with department leaders to calculate commission calculations and support in ad hoc analysis.The Financial Planning Analyst will also assist in the preparation of financial forecasting and reconciliation of internal accounts.
In addition, the Financial PlanningAnalyst will play a key role during the annual budget season to obtain an understanding of key business initiatives, hiring plans, and planned operating expenses and assist in modeling those line items in the budget. The FinancialPlanning Analyst will work alongside finance and operation leaders to analyze trends in revenue, finance, general business conditions, and other related areas.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Partner with department leaders and executive team members to create the company’s budget for the subsequent year. This process includes demonstrating a basic understanding of the business for the budgets being worked on (services rendered, operational processes, KPIs, trends) and assisting in budgeting for non-financial and financial metrics.
- Evaluate month-end financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with budget. Collaborate with the AP team to understand expenses incurred and provide explanations for items above budget.
- Prepare financial reporting packages as part of the month-end process, which includes the balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows.
- Record payroll expenses, calculate payroll accruals for month-end, and validate the accuracy of the month-end accruals.
- Develop an intermediate understanding of operational expenses, payroll, budgeting, segment reporting, budget vs. actual analysis, bonuses and commission calculations, balance sheet account reconciliations, and the financial close process.
- Assist in creating a service-level income statement by working with department heads and other leadership team members to identify how costs should be allocated. Assist in creating an allocation matrix and partner with accounting teams to ensure costs are properly coded for allocation purposes.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
Qualifications:
- Experience in financial modeling and forecasting
- Basic understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting principles
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
- Ability to manage workload and multi-task on several projects and initiatives
- Experience working for a healthcare organization (preferred)
- Experience working with multi-location organizations (preferred)
